Stephanie Marie Ries' Obituary
Stephanie Marie Ries, age 35, passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer on Sunday, April 23, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Muskegon on May 25, 1981 to Maxwell Horton and Cheryl Ries. Stephanie graduated from Mona Shores High School, class of 2000. She had been employed by Reliant Cleaning for seven years before being diagnosed with cancer. Stephanie was active with the Muskegon Hockey Booster Club and with her Relay for Life group, “Assorted Nuts for a Cure”. She was a proud mom that loved her children and her family more than anything. She is survived by her children, Spencer and Addison Ries; her mother, Cheryl (Rickie) Genson; her grandmother, Frances Ries; seven sisters, Patricia Panzer Ostrum, Connie Meredith, Sherri (Rudy) Lampen, Vicki (Rich Lichner) Ketner, Angela (Scott) Holt, Tami (Tracy) Loyd and Brittany (Adam Simpson) Ferris; and special friend, Gene Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her father, Maxwell Horton and her grandfather, Fred Ries. A CELEBRATION OF STEPHANIE’S LIFE will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 27, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at The Lee Chapel. MEMORIALS to Spencer and Addison’s Education Fund may be directed to Family Financial Credit Union c/o Cheryl Genson.
