Stephen Deters' Obituary
Mr. Stephen Deters, age 63, of Ferrysburg passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at home. He was born May 18, 1955 in Fremont to Daniel and June (Frens) Deters. On November 1, 1991 he married Joan Fliearman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conklin.
Stephen loved everything to do with the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a “die hard” Lions and Tigers fan who always watched and believed in a late comeback. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all. A special thank you to Shields of Hope for all they have done and for all the prayers and support people have given.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Joan; seven children: Stephen (Tiffany) Deters, Jr, Melissa (Corey) DeHaan, Christy (Chris) Lemke, Benjamin Deters, Braque Deters, Marian Fliearman Russell, and Richard (Patty) Collins; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; six siblings: Lewis (Edith) Deters, Richard (Janet) Deters, Marilyn Sharp, Daniel (Carol) Deters, Andrew Deters, and Sheryl (Chuck) Russell; sister-in-law, LeNore Deters; several Fliearman family members; nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by special friends, Floyd and Janice Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and June; brother, Robert Deters; in-laws, Richard and Marian Fliearman, and brothers-in-law, Byron Sharp, Roland Pfahler, Robert Fliearman.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Hope Reformed Church (14932 Mercury Drive, Grand Haven, MI 49417) with Rev. Tim Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday, March 8, 2019 at The Spring Lake Chapel (213 E. Savidge Street) and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Rosedale Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Stephen may be given to: The Braque Deters Education Fund C/O PNC Bank, Hope Reformed Church: Youth Group or Food Trucks.
