Stephen C. Dix's Obituary
Stephen C. “Steve” Dix, age 81, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Muskegon. He was born on January 23, 1943 in Battle Creek, MI to Dr. Kenneth and Donna (Whitmore) Dix, and resided in the Muskegon area since 2007. Steve earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Michigan and later pursued a Master's in Library Science at Wayne State University. His career included 22 years with the Genesee District Library, 14 years as Director of the Cadillac Library, and 8 years as Director of the Muskegon Area District Library. He was a member of First Lutheran Church and an active participant in the Muskegon Rotary. Steve enjoyed traveling, golfing, boating, dancing, and socializing with friends.
On October 3, 2010, he married the former Judith “Judi” Hardy and she survives him along with his two children: Kristine (Bob) Kuerbitz and children, Lillian and Lucas; Stephen “Craig” (Morgan) Dix, Jr. and children, Joseph, Leo, Derek; along with step-son, Clinton (Vickey) Jennings and children, Thomas LaVanway and Victoria DeVoll; sisters, Kathleen Olk, Diane (Fred) Gallatan, Sheila Triplett, Vicki (Gary) Kitts and Kay (Kenneth) Greenslate; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Dix in 2003.
MEMORIAL SERVICES to celebrate Steve’s life will be 1:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at First Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Rd. Muskegon, MI 49445) with Pastor Bill Uetricht officiating. VISITATION with his family will be 1 hour prior to the service at church, from 12-1:00PM. Memorial Contributions in Steve’s name to Supper House (2500 Jefferson St. Muskegon, MI 49444), Muskegon Rotary (380 W. Western Ave. Muskegon, MI 49440), First Lutheran Church (Children’s Program) will be appreciated.
