Stephen E. Helms' Obituary
Celebrating the life of Stephen E. Helms on Friday, August 5 at 3PM (see details below):
Stephen E. Helms, age 70, met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 30, 1952, to Frederick and Evelyn Helms in Lancaster, NH. After graduation, he continued his education at the University of New Hampshire where he received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. On April 24, 1982, he married the love of his life, Arline, in Livermore Falls, ME. Together they cherished 40 years full of love and laughter. Steve and Arline started building their family together in New Hampshire, where they were blessed with 2 children. A job change brought them to Muskegon, Michigan in 2004. Steve often reflected on his gratitude that the whole family stayed in Michigan and did not get “scattered to the wind.” Steve was a man of strong faith and obedience to God. He enjoyed his friends and fellowship in the church community. Steve was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed being out on the greens. He also enjoyed reading and indulging in a scoop or three of ice cream. Steve took great delight in his family and cherished all the moments he spent with them. Steve was a steadfast husband, loving father, exceptional “Bapi”, wonderful twin brother, a dear friend to many, and a dedicated colleague at Middough. Steve blessed this world with a gracious and kind heart, sharp mind, and great sense of humor. He was deeply invested in the lives of those he loved and was reliable beyond measure. His warm smile and tender-loving spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Arline Helms; 2 children, Frederick (Sierra) Helms and Elizabeth (Matthew) Briggson; 2 granddaughters; and twin sister, Jeanie (Bert) Kuhl. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Evelyn Helms. A service and celebration of Steve’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Lakeside Baptist Church, 2250 Denmark St., Muskegon, MI 49441 with a visitation one hour prior to the service (2-3PM). Memorial Contributions in Stephen’s honor can be directed to Harbor Hospice Foundation [www.harborhospicemi.org] or Maranatha Bible & Missionary Conference [www.vacationwithpurpose.org] to the "Bapi's Bench" Memorial Fund.
