Stephen P. Hradsky's Obituary
Stephen P. Hradsky, Jr. age 90, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2015. He was born on March 31, 1925 to Stephen and Katerina (Chrencik) Hradsky in Muskegon. Steve served his county as a sergeant in the US Army – Field Artillery Division during WWII in the China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater. He was a member of VFW Post 3195 and actively participated in both local and national CBI Veterans Associations. Steve’s uniform is proudly displayed on the LST 393 in Muskegon. Steve was a lifetime member of the Elks and Mona Lake Boat Club. He enjoyed mostly spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as golfing, traveling the country in his RV, and was a big motor racing, Spartans, Tigers, Red Wings, and Lions fan. He played both the violin and harmonica, and was a lifelong Mona Shores football fan and years past band parent. Steve was a certified auto mechanic working at Witt Buick, Windatt Pontiac, Matson Oldsmobile, and JC Penny Automotive. He owned and operated two Sunoco service stations in Muskegon and retired after running Ken and Bea’s Market in Muskegon Heights with his beloved wife, Pauline. He was an active member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church. On March 12, 1949, Steve married Pauline Still who preceded him in death on April 30, 2000. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth (late Robert) DeMuro of Denver, Colorado, Anne Hradsky, and Mildred (Roger) Knopf, both of Norton Shores. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Sheila (late Paul) Thorsen and Pam (Charles) Davison, both of Norton Shores; 4 grandchildren, Brandyn (Lisa) Thorsen of Fruitport Township, Brett (Lindsey) Thorsen of Norton Shores, Lisa Schaffran of Norton Shores, and Linsey Davison, of Golden, Colorado; 3 great-grandchildren, Rylan and Kael Thorsen, and Berkley Schaffran; sister, Allesha Thurkettle of Norton Shores; 2 close cousins who were raised with Steve, William Kristofetz of San Diego, California and Helen Kristofetz; many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Evangeline Clarke of Norton Shores and Fredrick Lewis of Norton Shores. Steve was also preceded in death by his son, Gregory P. Hradsky in April of 1976. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, 4861 Henry Street, with Pastor Mary Ivanov officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5 -7:00 PM on Monday July 13 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Lake Harbor United Methodist Church or the Muskegon Rescue Mission. BURIAL will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
