Steve Repta's Obituary
Mr. Steve Repta, age 94, peacefully passed away at his residence June 10, 2008. He was born November 23, 1913 in Chicago, IL to Stephen and Katherine Repta and moved to Muskegon as a child. He married the former Mildred E. Knudson on July 19, 1941 and she preceded him in death on June 12, 1986. He co-owned Towne Hardware for 20 years, retiring in 1966 and was a former vice president of a local credit association. Steve was a founding member of the West Michigan Old Engine Club in Scottville, MI. He never met a gasoline engine he couldn’t start. Steve and Mildred attended many antique engine shows together. He was a collector and built a Model T from original parts. SURVIVORS: his daughter, Sharon Repta of Rockville, MD; 1 brother, John (Molly) Repta of Muskegon; 2 brothers-in-law; and 22 nieces & nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Hegedus and Anne McClain. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Tuesday 11 A.M. at The Lee Chapel with Pastor John Brown officiating. VISITATION: Monday evening 6-8 P.M. He will be laid to rest in Mona View Cemetery. Memorial contributions: Harbor Hospice or West Michigan Old Engine Club Education Fund.
