Steve Watt's Obituary
How do you sum up the life of the world’s greatest superhero in a few short paragraphs?
Dad, husband, friend, uncle, brother and World’s best gramps. Even friends of his children lovingly called him dad. He was someone whose love was truly unconditional. He would help anybody at any time, no matter who you were. To know him was to know that you were genuinely loved, and he always made sure you knew it.
Resilient, kind, brave, strong, hard working, compassionate and stubborn❤️. He truly believed in the power of kindness and genuine love and he lived it. He taught us all how to see the good and beautiful in everyone and everything.
He never complained about anything. He endured years of heart problems and 7 years of an LVAD and he still smiled and made his dad jokes. He found joy in the small things.
We always joked saying he must have nine lives ,always defying the odds- surviving a motorcycle accident when hit by a drunk driver, zip lining over New River Gorge where his AICD fired for the first time, the skydiving incident where his parachute didn’t deploy correctly and he broke his legs, and scaling waterfalls and ice. He lived almost 20 years after initial 1-2 year prognosis in 2004. He lived.
He loved music, finding trinkets to bring to his grand daughters, reading, and traveling the country with his wife to see his grandchildren and daughter.
We will miss his beautiful soul and things just won’t be the same without him. We will forever be grateful for the time we had him with us.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Kathleen; daughter Katie Morgan; granddaughters: Taylor, Ella and Adalyn. He was preceded in death by his son, Zachary on August 31, 2023.
