Steven Eugene "Redwing" Anderson's Obituary
Mr. Steven Eugene “Redwing” Anderson, age 58, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Muskegon after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Muskegon on April 16, 1959 to Eugene and Mary (DeVries) Anderson and graduated from Fruitport High School, class of 1977. Steve had worked at J&M Machine Products for 34 years prior to his retirement due to health reasons. He attended Olivet Evangelical Free Church. Steve was an avid sports fan, but was most passionate about the Detroit Red Wings and the Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, and bowling. On August 9, 1980, Steve married the former Karene “Kari” Andrew in Muskegon and she survives him along with their two sons, Steven William Anderson and Scott Joseph (Lauren) Anderson; four grandchildren, Amaya, Malia, Spencer, and Chase; parents, Eugene and Mary Anderson; brother, Joe (Teresa) Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Tami (Mike) Gregory and Lori (Tony) Frost; nieces and nephews, Eryn and Dylan Gregory, Danielle and Andrew Frost; many special friends; and his pet birds, Lemon Drop and Rainbow. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church (6790 Harvey Road, Spring Lake, MI 49456) with Pastor Justin McFarland officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Monday, January 29, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. In honor of Steve’s love for the Detroit Red Wings, his family requests that guests wear their favorite Red Wings apparel if they choose. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer and Hematology Center of West Michigan or to the family to help defray funeral and medical expenses would be appreciated.
