Steven M. Pierce's Obituary
Steven M. Pierce, age 71, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2020. He was born December 13, 1948 in Muskegon to Herman and Ethel (Hagen) Pierce. Following high school, Steve was drafted into the U.S. Army and fought for our country during Vietnam. On October 11, 1968, he married the former Judith A. Lubbers in Muskegon. Steve worked for CSX Transportation as a train engineer for 25 years prior to retiring in 2008. He had also worked for the City of Muskegon as a police officer for 7 years as well as Muskegon Township for 6 ½ years. Steve was a member of Fifth Reformed Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a model railroad collector and also enjoyed working on his aviation and maritime models. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include his wife of 52 years, Judy; 2 sons: Tighe (Tracy) Pierce of Jenison and Brett (Traci) Pierce of Wyoming, MI; 4 grandchildren: Paige, Trista, Coraline, and Weston; sister, Allyson Pierce; sister-in-law, Sheryl Pierce; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Herman “Mike” Pierce. A PUBLIC VISITATION for Steve will be held from 6-8 PM Monday, November 30, 2020 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. Due to COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing, a maximum of 25 guests will be allowed in the building at one time. A private family service will be held. Burial will take place in Laketon Twp. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Harbor Hospice Foundation or Fifth Reformed Church.
