Sue Ann Chaney-Oswald's Obituary
Sue Ann (Galekovich) Chaney-Oswald, age 76, passed away peacefully at home holding her son’s hand, after a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Sue was born April 2, 1945, to William and Susie Galekovich in Muskegon, Michigan. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1963. Sue worked for The State of Michigan Department of Corrections where she retired from in 2002. Sue was a member of the Eagles, Holton American Legion, where she was auxiliary president for 5 years, lifetime member of Harley Owners Group (HOG), Sandy's Harley Davidson, and Hot Rod Harley. Sue's favorite thing in the world was riding her pride and joy, beautiful, custom made, one of a kind, Harley trike that won numerous awards at every bike show she entered. Sue was never afraid to speak her mind and loved life, family, and friends dearly. She enjoyed meeting at the clubs, the Effin Bar, and former Venture Bar for a cold drink, stories, and laughs. She will be deeply missed all. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, William and Susie Galekovich; husband, Mike Oswald, Sr.; brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson, Sr.; granddaughter, Brittany Leverich; former spouse, Dan Chaney Sr; and nephew, Bobby Johnson. She is survived by her beloved son, Dan Chaney Jr (Cindy Holtz); son Mike (Shelly) Oswald Jr; sisters, Carol (Mike) Sellon, Sharon (Les) Rolison, and Judy Johnson; god son nephews, Kevin (Kim), Jeff (Jennifer), and Todd (Heather) Sellon; niece Janeen Pastoor; nephews, Scott (Susana Bevins) and Willie (Kristi) Rolison; brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Norton; grandchildren, David Herman, Stephanie (Andrew) Phinney, Amber and Brian Oswald; 8 great grandchildren, many great nieces, nephews, and cousins; special cousins, Dan's godparents Donna and Ray Vanderstelt; and many, many friends. Visitation will be Monday, January 17, 2022, at Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Home, 6291 S. Harvey St, Norton Shores MI, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Dr. Martin Luther Church (1860 E. Hile Rd.) at 11:00 AM. Luncheon to follow at the Holton American Legion, 9150 Holton Rd, Holton MI.
