Susan Houseman's Obituary
Susan Houseman, age 59, of Grand Haven passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, at VNS Hospice House in Muskegon. She was born October 4, 1949, to Lloyd and Irene (Tokarczyk) Brown in Grand Haven. She was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and attended Peggy White Beauty School. Susan married Robert P. Houseman on September 13, 1969 in Grand Haven.
Susan was employed by Clover Bar as a cook for their famous pizza. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, former Cub Scout leader, enjoyed arts and crafts never missing a show, collecting and making dolls, entertaining and cooking, and spending time with her adoring grandchildren.
Survivors include her devoted husband Bob; a son, Ted (Sara) Houseman of Grand Haven; three grandchildren, Alexander, Isabelle and Gabriel; her mother, Irene Brown of Grand Haven; five brothers: Robert (Mary) Brown of Muskegon, William (Linda) Brown, Scott (Sunday) Brown, Skip (Deb) Brown, Kirk Brown all of Grand Haven; eight brothers- and sisters-in-law: Julia (Jack) Bradfield, Eleanor (Melvin) Doremire, Rita (Mike) Weinert, Edward (Carol) Houseman, Jackie Houseman, Mary Ann Houseman, Bea Schouda, all of Muskegon, Jim (Marlene) Houseman of Kent City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd; a sister, Sandra and husband Greg Hansen; and 3 brothers-in-law: John, Virgil and Raymond Houseman.
The Funeral Liturgy for Susan will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. William Langlois as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven where a Scripture Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
