Susan M. "Susie" Jackson's Obituary
Susan Marie “Susie” Jackson passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at Hackley Hospital. She was born to Martin and Marion (Matzen) VanderLind in Grand Rapids. Susie graduated from Union High School and worked in customer service for Chase Bank prior to her retirement 2001. On August 25, 1967, she married James A. Jackson and together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Susie was blessed with a great sense of humor, a loving heart and she was the “glue” that held her family together. She was tenacious and unpretentious. She was the family calendar and notified everyone about important dates. Unaffected by technology and fashion, Susie sent sister, Judy, to buy the dress for Jeff’s recent wedding. She was lucky in life with her cherished boys, her adored husband, Jim, and her beloved grandchildren. Caring for Jim and her precious grandchildren, whom she loved to the moon and back, was her greatest joy. She will be deeply missed and loved forever. Susie was washed in the blood, baptized and is now with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in her final destination, Heaven. She is survived by her husband, Jim; 3 children, James Jackson Jr., Joseph (Andrea) Jackson and Jeffery (Sarah) Jackson; grandchildren, Keeghan, Azalea, Ashleigh, Katherine, Bonnie, Isaac, Isabelle, Franklin; and sister, Judy (Lewis) Dekuiper. Susie was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Dennis VanderLind and Martin VanderLind Jr. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be for 11 AM, Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor Izzy Young officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 7 to 9PM Tuesday at the funeral home. MEMORIALS can be directed to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Share memories with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
