Susan Lee Kobza's Obituary
Susan Lee Kobza, age 77, passed away following a brief illness on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Seminole Shores Living Center. She was born on October 2, 1944, to Dr. Sven A. Bach and Sylvia (Askov) Bach in Denver, Colorado. Susan lived in both Japan and Italy during her childhood as part of a military family. She graduated from Ft. Knox High School in Kentucky and earned a B.A. Degree in Italian from Indiana University. Susan spent many years in Muskegon, working with her husband, Attorney James Kobza. She and Jim were married for 33 years prior to his death in 2014. Susan was an avid reader and an experienced storyteller with the Yarn Spinners. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends with Jim at their home on Duck Lake. Susan is survived by her stepmother, Joan Bach; sisters-in-law, Marleah Bach, Peggy Bach, Kathleen (John) Rajkovacz, Diane (Dan) O’Neill, Cherri Kobza, Judy Kobza; brother-in-law, Tom (Carol) Kobza; nieces and nephews, Monica (Jeff) Jenkins, Art (Jennifer) Bach, Jason Bach, Jamie (Eric) Bach Drooker, and Travis (Rachel) Bach; cousin, Dick (Donna) Lapham; and dear friend, Jean Hasse. Susan will also be lovingly remembered by her stepchildren, Kim (Amy) Kobza, Chantel (Jack) Howell, Craig Kobza, Victoria Kobza, Paul Kobza, Jeanne Blauvelt, David (Pam) Kobza, Beth (Tim) Mass; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, James Bach, and Steven Bach; brothers-in-law, William Kobza, Honorable Michael E. Kobza; and sisters-in-law, Joan (James) Hefferan, and Mary (David) Brown. A private burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Muskegon. A memorial mass for Susan will be said in Sue’s memory on Sunday, September 4, 2022, at St. James Catholic Church (5149 Dowling St, Montague, MI 49437).
