Susan Dawn Leister's Obituary
On Monday, April 21st, Susan (Sue) Dawn (Schneider) Leister passed away peacefully in her sleep. Susan was born on August 6th, 1951 in Kalamazoo, MI to her parents Russell J. and Marjorie Schneider. Susan was raised in Norton Shores and graduated from Mona Shores High School. She went on to graduate from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. Sue was a special education teacher at Angell School in Muskegon for many years. Sue married William W. Leister in May of 1996. She enjoyed her grandchildren immensely and was very active in their lives. Sue’s greatest joy was in giving and helping others. She loved to fish and camp in her favorite place, Curtis MI. Sue was preceded in death by her husband William W. Leister, father Russell J. Schneider, mother Marjorie (Schneider) Lachniet, sister Barbara McCully, and brother Russell (Rusty) J. Schneider II. SURVIVORS include her daughter Kimberly (Dave) Phillips, son Scott (Carmen) Stone, brother Jeff (Melody) Schneider, sister Laurel (Dan) Shugars, brother-in-law Mick (Sheri) McCully, sister-in law Joyce Schneider, grandchildren, KayLynn, Emma, Sarah, Kelsi, Maddie, Paige, Ashlie and Max and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26th at 5:00 p.m. at Westwood Reformed Church, 3025 Glenside Blvd, Muskegon, MI with Pastor Steve Smallegan officiating. Visitation will be held after the service with the family in the church family center. Memorial contributions to Westwood Reformed Church will be appreciated.
