Susan K. "Sue" Stone's Obituary
Susan K. “Sue” Stone, age 80, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Hospital. She was born April 30, 1944 in Frankfort, MI to Leslie S. and Jane Ann (Eriksen) White and lived in the Muskegon area since 1956. Sue was a proud Big Red, graduating from Muskegon High School in 1962. She then graduated from Hackley Hospital School of Nursing and worked 30 years as a Registered Nurse at Hackley Hospital before retiring in 2000. She was a longtime member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church where she served as a Deaconess and sang in the choir. Sue was a devoted mother and caregiver to her family – especially her daughter Carrie who she cared for until her passing in 2023. Sue loved spending a lot of time at the family cottage on School Section Lake. She was a very independent woman and enjoyed DIY home improvements including re-siding her house and replacing all the floors in it, too. She also enjoyed exercising, biking, taking long walks and loved cooking. Sue is survived by 3 children, Christine Krive of Grand Rapids, Cathleen Stone of Grand Rapids, Matthew (Mae) Stone of Grand Haven; 1 granddaughter, Emma (Josiah) Youngquist of Oregon, IL; 1 great-granddaughter, Phoebe Youngquist of Oregon, IL; and 2 sisters, Sheryl (Jeffrey) Colburn of Muskegon and Sally (Thomas) Sweet of North Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Caryn “Carrie” Stone; her parents; and her former spouse, Thomas Stone. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, February 13, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Bill Rudd officiating. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery at 2:00PM on Thursday. Visitation will be held 4:00 -7:00PM Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
