Susan M. Woelkers' Obituary
Susan Marie Woelkers, age 62, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born on October 9, 1955 to Elmer and Regina (Gutenberg) Houk in Grosse Pointe, MI. Sue worked at Home Depot and was also the afternoon news announcer, Sherry Wilson, on WGHN. She began her West Michigan radio career at WMUS as a DJ, later working at WKBZ as the public service director and evening DJ. She left radio for a number of years, returning to work at WGHN in 2014, a job she is enjoying very much! Sue was a dog trainer and loved working with the dogs, teaching and playing with her Sheltie, Joey. She supported Muskegon Luge, enjoyed estate sale shopping and researching her family genealogy. Sue is survived by her siblings, Mark (Jackie) Houk, Gale (Bob) Teska, Patty (Jim Dowbenko) Houk; nieces and nephews, Stephen and Michael Houk, Kelly Teska, Kaylee and Kyle Dowbenko; and her beloved Sheltie, Joey. She was preceded in death by her parents. A VISITATION with Sue's family will take place at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) on Sunday, March 25, 2018 from 2:00 8:00 PM with a rosary service starting at 7:00 PM. A FUNERAL SERVICE for Sue will take place on Monday March 26, 2018 at the funeral home at 2:00 PM with Fr. Norm Droski presiding. Burial will take place in Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, MI. For a more lasting memory, donations in Sue's name can be made to the Noah Project.
