Mrs. Susie M. Galekovich's Obituary
Mrs. Susie Mildred Galekovich, age 96, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 29 at her home. She was born on July 7, 1922 to Paul and Suzie (Mittak) Sukup Sr in Muskegon Heights and moved to the Ravenna area, where she continued to live, when she was nine. Susie married the love of her life, William M. Galekovich, on June 24, 1943 in Muskegon. They spent 42 wonderful years together before he preceded Susie in death on March 15, 1986. Susie worked for 25 years at Ravenna Middle School in the kitchens, retiring in 1988 and was a lifelong member of Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, farming, reading and cheering on the Detroit Tigers. Susie will be missed by her children, Sue Chaney-Oswald, Judy (Jerry) Johnson, Carol (Mike) Sellon, and Sharon (Les) Rolison; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; son-in-law, Mike Oswald; brother, Paul (Anna) Sukup Jr; sisters-in-law, Mary (Cliff) Roberts and Christine (Cal) Scholten; and parents. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at 11AM at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church (1860 Hile Rd., 49444). Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, October 2 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100. Memorial contributions in Susie’s name may be made to the church.
