Mrs. Tempie M. Buckner's Obituary
Mrs. Tempie M. Buckner, 81, passed away July 11, 2018 in Muskegon. She was born February 27, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Warren Kennedy, Sr. and Isabell Young. She was the first of eleven siblings. Sister Buckner was married to Leodus Buckner and to this union six children were born: Janice, Wayne, Charles and Cynthia Kennedy, Pearl and Brenda Buckner. She was employed at (C.A.A.P.) as secretary for 15 years, the State of Michigan for 22 years as an Assistant Payment Worker, retiring in 1997. Her passion was working weekends as the Secretary and Financial Secretary at New Hope Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Tempie was a dedicated member for more than 30 years of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving in many positions. She leaves to cherish 2 daughters, Pearl Buckner and Cynthia Love; sisters: Helen King and Juanita Fuller; and brother: Warren Kennedy, Jr. She was preceded in death by her mother: Isabell Riley; her father: Warren Kennedy, Sr.; daughters: Janice Kennedy and Brenda L. Buckner; sons: Wayne J. Kennedy and Charles V. Kennedy; sisters: Samella Walker and Renee O’Neal. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 17, at 11:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 560 Yuba Street. Visitation at The Walburn Chapel, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565, will be Monday, July 16, from 5-7 PM, with the Order of the Eastern Star service at 6:30 PM. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery.
