Teresa R. O'Brien's Obituary
Teresa R. O'Brien, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born in New Haven, CT to Albert and Anna (Spargo) Gardella. Teresa graduated from Nursing School in 1958 and dedicated over 50 years as a nurse in Rochester, Michigan and also in N. Fort Meyers, FL. She spent many of those years as a nurse supervisor, retiring at 72 years of age. Her Catholic faith was deeply important to her, and her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A gifted crafter, she created countless beautiful blankets, hats, and mittens for loved ones. Though the last five years of her life brought challenges with COVID, lockdowns, and health issues, she faced them with strength and determination. On April 4, 1959 she married Joseph J. O’Brien and together enjoyed 47 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 3, 2006. SURVIVORS include three children: Joseph (Sandra) O’Brien, Deirdra Pauley, and Patrick (Debra) O’Brien; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; sister, Estelle Lombardi; along with countless nieces and nephews. Teresa was preceded in death by her two sisters, Rita and Elizabeth. Private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Van Hoosen Jones Stoney Creek Cemetery in Rochester, MI.
