Terry Burris Jr.'s Obituary
Terry Burris, Jr. was born February 2, 1949 in Muskegon, MI to Johnnie W. and Terry Burris, Sr. (both deceased). He passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
Terry attended Muskegon High School. He worked at Kmart as a store manager and had many careers during his lifetime.
Terry loved to travel. He spent time in Chicago, Denver, the states of Georgia, South Carolina and anywhere the sun shone. Terry volunteered for a number of years at the Community Breakfast, Sponsored by First Congregational Church, UCC in downtown Muskegon. He was always ready to share a smile and a story from one of his many adventures. He was a humble man who had a large group of friends from his many years in Muskegon. Terry was known for his knack of impeccable dressing. “Sugar Sharp” was the term used. He wore it well. Two of Terry’s favorite sayings were “Nothing more, nothing less” and “If you’re okay, I’m okay”.
Terry had 2 siblings, James (Ella) Burris (deceased) and Evelyn Banks of Greenville, SC. Terry had 5 children, Vontrese Briggs of Greensville, SC, Tammy (John) Stevenson of Stone Mountain, GA, Wynette Bryant (deceased), Terry Barry (deceased) and Kofi (Shanay) Barry of Chicago. Terry had 16 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Grandson Terry Barry, Jr. , preceded him in death. Terry leaves behind his ex-wife Towanna Barry and a very special friend, Barbara Wyant along with a host of relatives and friends.
Cremation has taken place at Sytsema Cremation Services, Inc. A memorial gathering will hopefully happen sometime in 2021.
