Thaddeus J. "Ted" Kling's Obituary
Mr. Thaddeus J. “Ted” Kling, age 93, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Mercy VNS Hospice House. He was born February 5, 1917 in Muskegon and lived in the area his entire life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the 78th Field Artillery during WWII. Ted retired in 1979 after working 25 years for Lappo Lumber. He had previously worked for Burnswick Corp. and Tejchema Garage. On September 6, 1942, he married the former Bernice A. Barr in Ft. Sill, OK and she survives him. Ted was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he volunteered and organized the monthly St. Francis Seniors Group for 26 years. He was also a member of the Catholic War Vets and the American Legion. Ted loved to attend his kids and grandkid’s sporting events. He also enjoyed polka dancing and was an avid Tiger’s fan. He will be greatly missed. SURVIVORS include his wife, Bernice; 5 children, Kathryn (Michael) Moore of Midland, Mary Anne (Wayne) LaNore of Muskegon, Ted (fiancee, Kay Henderson) Kling, Jr. of Muskegon, Tom (Mary Ann) Kling of Muskegon, Terry (Sue) Kling of Muskegon; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Hank (Jean) Kling of Fruitport, Edward (Joan) Kling of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Wanda (Harry) Ryznar of Muskegon and Julia Christian of Muskegon. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Anna Kochmanski. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, November 29, 2010, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. ENTOMBMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with Ted’s family will be 5-8 PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Monday at the church.
