Thelma E. Duff's Obituary
Thelma E. (Kieft) Duff, age 83, passed away gracefully at home on August 16, 2016. She was known by many to be loving, generous, strong, wise, and sassy. Some of Thelma’s favorite memories were from her travels, but she was always so happy to be back home sweet home. She was born on December 23, 1932 to Joseph and Marian (Kolberg) Johnson. Thelma was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She and her husband of over fifty years, Jack Kieft, were co-owners of J and T Market in East Muskegon. On September 10, 2005 she married James A. Duff in Muskegon and they shared nearly 11 wonderful years. She will be sorely missed by the many that loved her: her 4 children, Jack (Gloria McManus) Kieft, Barry (Karen) Kieft, Sandy (Cindy) Kieft and Tammie (Greg) Keane; step-children, Paul Duff, Randy (Michelle) Duff, Ronald (Pamela) Duff and Pamela (Ronald) Varga; step-daughter in-law, Kim Williams; grandchildren, Michelle (Nick Sapone) Kieft, Marc (Tina) Kieft, Misty (Joe) Theisen, Barry Kieft, Benji (Kristen) Kieft, Brandon (Kim) Kieft, Stephanie (Matt) Chase, Danielle (Dan) Quinn, Meredith Rahrig and Elaina Rahrig; step-grandchildren, Victoria (Greg) Tolan, Jaclyn Duff, Paul J. (Elizabeth) Duff, Greg Duff, James (Jennifer Person) Duff, Lori (Todd) Rasmussen, Andrea (John) Giffel, Bethany (Sylvester) Owusu and Sara (Michael) Earnest; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great grandchildren; and one step-great-great grandchild. Thelma was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Kieft in 2003, brother, Buck Johnson, step-son, Kevin Duff and step-daughter, Cheryl Duff. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Tuesday, 11:00 AM, August 23, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home along with one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Mercy VNS Hospice.
