Thelma Jean Ortquist-Alfultis' Obituary
Mrs. Thelma Jean Ortquist-Alfultis, age 86, passed on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Chestnut Fields. She was born at her Aunt Kate’s home in Muskegon on January 9, 1930 to Percy and Clarice (Smith) Lewis. All her life, she called West Michigan home. Thelma was a devoted member of Ferrysburg Community Church, and enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and oil painting, but more than anything, she loved spending time with her family, friends and neighbors. She married Robert Ortquist on November 6, 1948. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2004. Thelma, then, married Harold “Mike” Alfultis on March 24, 2008. They shared many fun times until his death on May 19, 2014. SURVIVORS include 2 daughters, Sharon (Charles) Jeske of Spring Lake, and Doris (James) Stone of Muskegon; 2 sons, Kenneth Ortquist of Ravenna and Dale (Mary Jo) Ortquist of Spring Lake; 6 step-children; daughters, Carol Anne, Lynn (Richard) Foust, Nancy McCarrick; sons Michael (Kim), Chuck (Karen), John Alfultis. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; sister, Irma Frazine; and 2 brothers, James Lewis and Earl (Patricia) Lewis. Two sister-in-laws, Bernice Nienhouse and Elizabeth (Bill) Mastenbrook and brother-in-law, Steve Klop. Thelma was also preceded in death by her infant son, Albin Ortquist; 2 sisters, Dorothy Kleyn and Janet Klop; and 2 brothers, Gerald and Dale Lewis. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Thursday, at Ferrysburg Community Church (17785 Mohawk Dr. Spring Lake) with Pastor Nate Visker officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11 AM. Burial will take place in Lakeshore Cemetery.
