Mrs. Thelma I. Slorf's Obituary
Mrs. Thelma I. Slorf, 92, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at her home. She was born June 30, 1924 to Harve and Joy (Vandawater) Luce in Newaygo County. On June 12, 1944, she married Raymond Slorf of Muskegon, who preceded her in death on October 7, 1992. They lived in Muskegon until moving to New Era in 1972 and she returned to Muskegon in 1994. Mrs. Slorf was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Patricia Austria, Emily Roten, Edward Slorf, Roger (Laurie) Slorf; 5 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (Linda) Luce. She was also preceded in death by 2 step-daughters, Mary Lou Karlin and Virginia Phetteplace; 2 brothers, George “Derrill” Luce, Leonard “Dean” Luce; 5 sisters, Edith Ginther, Hazel Schooley, Ilene Hooker, Reva Goodman and Eva Long. The funeral service for Mrs. Slorf will be held Monday, December 12, at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, with Rev. Benjamin Oliveira officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 2-4 PM Sunday afternoon. You may visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
