Thelma Vanderstelt's Obituary
Thelma Vanderstelt, age 91, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022. She was born September 18, 1930 in Sanilac County, MI to Maurice and Blanche (Freel) McCarty. Thelma later married Jacob Vanderstelt and he preceded her in death in 2001. For many years, Thelma worked as a surgical nurse at Hackley Hospital prior to her retirement. When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, Thelma enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, doing yard work, and gardening. SURVIVORS include 3 children: Nancy Oldfield of Massachusetts, Peggy Parks of Muskegon, and Shawn Vanderstelt of Muskegon; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Clara (Fred) Hansen of Muskegon; and a host of nieces and nephews. Thelma was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters. A private service will be held. Burial will take place next to her husband, Jacob, in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
