Theodore W. Olsen's Obituary
Theodore “Ted” Wyn Olsen, age 81, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Ted was born in Muskegon to Winfred and Coral (Westrate) Olsen on February 27, 1944. He graduated from Muskegon High School and later went on to serve as president of the Muskegon Public School Board for 12 years and president of the Big Red Education Fund for 27 years. He married the former Barbara Hosler on June 30,1962, and the two of them spent 62 wonderful years building a family together. He was a dedicated employee at Sealed Power for 47 years, retiring in 2008. Ted was a lifetime member at Our Savior’s Lutheran/Harbor of Grace, where he served on the church council and helped with their food pantry. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, and playing cribbage at the Viking Lodge. He loved watching Big Red Football and UM Football, and he enjoyed watching westerns and listening to 50s music.
Ted will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara Olsen; three children: Kim (Dr. James) Stubbart, Sue (Terry) Kling, and Jeff Olsen; four grandchildren: Haley and Ella Stubbart, Sam (Emily) Kling, and David (Brook Wilks) Kling; great-grandson, Maverick Stubbart; and brother, Walter (Joyce) Olsen; special nieces and nephews; and great-grandpup, Larry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Coral Olsen; sister, Susan D’Alcorn; and beloved dog, Bart.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be taking place at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Harbor of Grace Lutheran Church, 1132 W Southern Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441, with VISITATION taking place an hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loaves of Grace Food Pantry or the Big Red Education Fund.
