Theodore A. "Ted" Saladin's Obituary
Theodore A. “Ted” Saladin, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 14, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born July 11, 1952 in Grand Rapids, MI to Donald and Rose Marie (Walker) Saladin. He was a proud graduate of MSU, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and GVSU with a Master’s degree in Business Administration. He resided most of his life in the Muskegon area, working as a case manager at the Department of Mental Health’s Muskegon Regional Center until it closed in 1992. He transferred and worked as a probation officer for the Department of Corrections until he happily retired in 2008.
Ted married Susan L. DeMuro in Muskegon on September 24, 1976, joyfully sharing their lives for almost 49 years. Ted was an avid reader, delved into genealogy, and liked to travel. Touring Italy and visiting Boston were his most cherished. He especially loved to golf, all over West Michigan and beyond. He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his committed nature, and the love and devotion he gave to his family and friends. He will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Saladin; 2 daughters, Katie (Scott) Farnquist and Rachael Krause; 4 grandchildren, Carter, Owen, Jane and Anne; 2 brothers, Joseph Saladin, Christopher (Jeanette) Saladin; 1 sister, Margaret (James) McConnell; his mother-in-law, Joan DeMuro-McLean; 3 brothers-in-law, Patrick (Nan) DeMuro, Michael (Lenna) DeMuro, Paul (Susan) DeMuro; 1 sister-in-law, Lynda (Jesse) Brunais; many special nieces and nephews; as well as his longtime friend and golfing buddy, Larry Foose. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, David Saladin; 2 sisters-in-law, Donna Saladin, and Julietta Saladin; and fathers-in-law, James DeMuro and William McLean.
Ted will be cremated in accordance with his wishes. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 21, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Phil Severn officiating. Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life Luncheon in the Family Center.
