Theodore "Ted" Youn's Obituary
Mr. Theodore “Ted” Youn, age 92, of Spring Lake, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Heartwood Lodge. He was born July 14, 1927 in Marquette to Wenzel and Bertha (Uebrick) Youn. On June 10, 1950 he married Virginia Barr in Marquette, MI.
Ted was a faithful Catholic all his life and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and retired from Anderson Bolling in 1990. He enjoyed all sports, but especially the Detroit Tigers, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman, loved music and traveling, with his favorite trip being Alaska. Most of all he was a constant gentleman, who appreciated all that he had, and especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Virginia; five children: Karen (John) Parsons of Spring Lake, Steven Youn of Wyoming, MI, Michael (Teresa) Youn of Grand Rapids, Judy (Bill) Sibilla, Craig Youn of Spring Lake; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth (John) Wilkinson, Andrea Parsons, Kelsey (Selene) Rezmer, Benjamin (Lisa) Sprague, Amanda (Ian) Rebbeck, Daniel (Becca) Sibilla, Alyssa (Liam) Fagg, Joseph Sprague, and Brianna Sprague; and ten great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Ledvina; brothers-in-law: James (Theo) Barr, Richard Barr, and Milton Barr. He was preceded in death by his siblings: June Lulofs, James Youn, Florence Antcliff, and Catherine Portoluri; sister-and brother in-laws, Lucille Hietikko, Edward Barr.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak concerning social distancing, a private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Public Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Monday, March 23, 2020 at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Ted may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
