Theodore E. "Ted" Shatney's Obituary
Mr. Theodore E. “Ted” Shatney, 91, passed away early Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. Born Sept. 23, 1918 in Muskegon to John and Helen (Siuda) Shatney, Ted married the former Marva Senecal on May 3, 1941, before serving in the US Navy during World War II. Ted Was employed at The Norge Refrigeration Co. for 30 years. He then was a Union Representative for Allied Industrial Workers before retiring in 1982. Ted was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church, Muskegon Recreation Club, Moose Lodge, Lakeside Eagles, Lakeside Veterans Club, had served the United Way and the Democratic Party. Ted was a very happy “people person” with an unforgettable smile. HIS SURVIVORS include his children: Patrick T. (Rebecca) Shatney of Sebring, FL, Peggy A. Rozycki of Muskegon and Paul J.(Luanne) Shatney of Delray Beach, FL; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (LouAnne) Staffney of Muskegon; two sisters: Marie Greenwald and Doris (David) Covell both of Muskegon; special family friend, Peter Rozycki of Spring Lake; and loving caretaker/companion, Florence Lillmars of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marva Shatney, on Sept. 24, 2004, and a son, Peter E. Shatney. MEMORIAL SERVICES for Mr. Shatney will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, October 2, 2009 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. Fr. Norman Droski presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (11 AM-12PM) Friday. Military honors will be presented by Muskegon County Council, VFW and the Michigan National Guard. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or Harbor Hospice.
