Theodore J. VanderVelde's Obituary
Mr. Theodore John VanderVelde, age 73, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 in Grand Rapids. Ted was born June 6, 1936 to John and Mary (Wietsema) VanderVelde in Muskegon. On April 17, 1954 he married the former Jean Leafers. Ted was employed as a machinist at Teledyne Continental Motors until retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Muskegon Bowmen’s Club and attended The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene. Ted enjoyed woodworking, crafting many hunting bows from wood. He is SURVIVED by his wife of 55 years, Jean VanderVelde; 4 children, Janet Nelson, Kristi VanderVelde, Ted VanderVelde and Ann (Kevin) Rought; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bill VanderVelde and 2 sisters, Louise Smith and Marilyn Duval. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Greg, in 1984. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, July 27 at The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene (2270 S. Mill Iron Rd.) with Pastor Tom Parks officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS may be made to The Lakes Community Church of the Nazarene.
