Mrs. Theresa Ann (Dillon) Schmitt's Obituary
Mrs. Theresa Ann (Dillon) Schmitt, age 85, passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at a local nursing home. She was born July 17, 1927 in Muskegon to Daniel and Mary Dillon and lived in the area her entire life. On May 17, 1958, she married Charles J. Schmitt in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1978. Theresa was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the St. Mary’s Girlfriend Club and Schmitt Bunco Club. Theresa loved her family very much. She was very proud of her grandchildren – they were her world. She had a strong devotion to the Rosary and prayed it daily. She enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and was a very social person. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Mary (David) Burnham of North Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Kailey and Courtney Burnham. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles Christopher Schmitt; her parents; 2 brothers, Charles “Charlie” Dillon and Daniel “Casey” Dillon and sister, Eloise Dillon Telma. The family would also like to thank the caring staff at Mercy Hospital and Sanctuary of the Park for the concern and love shown to Theresa. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, December 14, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Thursday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Friday at the church.
