Thomas A. "Tom" Jacobs' Obituary
Thomas A. “Tom” Jacobs, age 86, passed away surrounded by his family on May 23, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1937, to Albert and Christine (Jandris) Jacobs in Muskegon. He graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1955. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a machine gunner and part of the ski team in Alaska. He also played hockey for the Army. Prior to 1992, he worked in sales for Nabisco covering a very large territory for the company where he retired from. He started each day with an Oreo and a coffee and was often referred to as “The Cookie Man.” Tom enjoyed fishing, golfing, casino trips, being with his family, collecting baseball cards and coins and being with his one true love, Sharon K. Nelson. On August 1, 1959, he married her, and their love was the absolute best- a flirtatious kind of love, all the way to the end. Together, they showed the family what true love was. Sharon preceded Tom in death in 2021. SURVIVORS include seven children, Scott Jacobs, Greg (Jodie) Jacobs, Jeffery Jacobs, Bryan (Khristie) Jacobs, Kelly Jacobs, John (JoAnn) Jacobs, Felicia (Chris) Dake and an additional special son, Mark Stonex; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and sister, Doloris Zack. Tom was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenny Jacobs. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all doctors and nurses from VA; caregiver, Karen; and Gentiva Hospice for their care and comfort; and a special thanks to Molly. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION with the family will be held 5-7pm Friday June 7, 2024, the evening prior at the funeral home. There will be a Celebration of Life from 1-7 at Fricano’s, 1050 W Western Ave, Muskegon, MI 49441, following the service. MEMORIALS can be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
