Thomas John Aho's Obituary
Mr. Thomas John Aho, age 71, passed away Friday morning, January 17, 2014 at a local hospital following a long illness. He was born January 16, 1943 in Detroit, MI to Iver and Ruth (Karling) Aho. He graduated from Muskegon Hts. High School in 1961. “Tom the Barber” was co-owner of the Charm Barbershop for 45 years until retiring in 2009. He married the former Donna J. Hare in Muskegon on January 11, 1964. Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Donna; 2 daughters, Cherri (Chris) Farhat of Holt, MI and Julie (Chris) Rios of Bradenton, FL; 4 grandchildren, Christopher Farhat, Joshua, Jordan Grace and Caleb Rios; his mother-in-law, Jean Hare of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Jerry and Robert Aho. Tom was an extremely devoted and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His family was his life. He enjoyed boating with family on Lake Michigan and family trips to Florida, Hawaii and Caribbean cruises. His jolly personality and contagious laughter was a joy and blessing to his family and all who knew him. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4475 Henry St., Norton Shores 49441 with Rev. Mark Zimmerman officiating. VISITATION will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100, and also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to his church, St. Mark Lutheran Church.
