Thomas F. Foupht's Obituary
Thomas F. Foupht, age 70, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, June 20, 2020. He was born on December 7, 1949 to Albert and Ethel (Ankney) Foupht in Detroit, MI. During his early years, he lived in El Monte, CA with his family and graduated from Arrozo High School. He was a proud veteran, formerly known as Sgt. Thomas F. Foupht, serving his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army 101st Airborne. While living in California, Tom worked as what many would call a real-life cowboy. He managed a ranch, rode horses and bulls, and participated in rodeos. He spent many nights sleeping underneath the stars before he decided to change career paths. Tom was an adventurous man who wanted to travel, and truck driving gave him that opportunity. He drove Peterbilt trucks for long hauls mostly out of Montana for numerous years, where he earned the nickname Grizzley. He married the love of his life, Cynthia “Cindy” (Hascher) Foupht. Together they cherished many years of marriage full of love and laughter. Cindy was always Tom’s copilot and together they made the most out of their lives. He was known for his passion of classic cars and attending car shows. He was also an avid golfer and fisher. Above all things, Tom loved his family and spending his time supporting his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending his time at every baseball game cheering on his grandson, Caleb; whom was also his fishing buddy and best friend. Tom was a tender-hearted man who was kind to everyone. He will always be remembered for being a loving and doting father, amazing husband, wonderful grandfather, and dear friend. He was a vivacious and loving soul who brought joy to all who knew him; he will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by his parent and mother-in-law, Linnae Hascher. He will be laid to rest with the love of his life, Cynthia Foupht who preceded him in death on November 6, 2008. During this difficult time, a private family service will be held. A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be held at a later date for his close friends and family. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Memorial contributions in Tom’s honor can be made direct to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
