Mr. Thomas A. Martin's Obituary
Mr. Thomas A. “Tom” Martin, age 75, passed away Sunday evening, November 10, 2013 in Muskegon. He was born February 18, 1938 to Thomas B. and Maxine (Pitts) Martin in Muskegon, was raised in Nunica, and after serving in the military for 9 years returned to Muskegon in 1966. Tom worked as a loan officer for 3 different consumer finance companies, and owned and operated Martin Enterprises,which was an aviation delivery service. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard two well-known aircraft carriers, the USS Forrestal CVA59 and the USS Lexington CVA16. Tom also loved sports, especially baseball and football. SURVIVORS include 1 Son, Thomas A. (Stella) Martin, Jr. of Chicago; 1 son-in-law, James Weatherbee of N. Muskegon; grandchildren, Allison, Monique, Analiese, Courteney, Joseph, Mackenzie, Livvie and Lainey; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Michael, and Noemi; 1 brother, David (Gayle) Zok of Muskegon; 1 sister, Jackie (Robert) Fitzpatrick of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Amy Lynn Weatherbee; 1 brother, Isaac Martin; 1 sister, Sharon Woodland; and his grandmother, Frances Aurich. THE FUNERAL SERVICE for Mr. Martin will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 14, at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441, (231) 759-8565 with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday evening, and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
