Mr. Thomas Steven Nichols' Obituary
Thomas Steven Nichols, age 61, went to be with the Lord on Friday March 24, 2017. Tom was born on July 1st, 1955 to Harold “Nick” and Anne Nichols. On June 12, 1982, he married the former Wendy Montgomery. Together they enjoyed 34 years of marriage and raised 3 children together. Tom was a retired Design Engineer Supervisor at General Dynamics. He loved the Lord and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He started the Michigan Turtle Conservation Organization and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Tom lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed helicopters, drones, horticulture, photography, fishing, shooting, camping, wildlife, and music. One of the biggest joys in his life was his grandson Reid Thomas. He was a quirky, loving, kind-hearted, selfless man of God. He will be deeply, deeply missed but fondly remembered. Tom is survived by his wife Wendy; children, Emily (Cory) McPherson; Andrew (Lindsey) Nichols and Colin (Danielle Vokal) Nichols; grandson, Reid Thomas; mother, Anne Nichols; brothers, Doug (Pat) Nichols and Rich (Doris) Nichols; twin sisters, Linda (Alex) Cappello, and Laurie (Don) Montague; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Nick” Nichols. A CELEBRATION of TOM’S LIFE will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 12 noon at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. VISITATION will begin 2 hours prior to the start of the service and continue until the start of the service. Memorial Contributions can be made to Wendy Nichols to be used to help support a college fund set up for Tom’s grandson, Reid Thomas.
