Thomas M. "Tom" Paulson's Obituary
Thomas M. "Tom" Paulson, age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2024, surrounded by his sister and her husband, as well as a very close friend. He was born on February 16, 1957, in Muskegon to Dr. William Arnold and Janice (Lundquist) Paulson. Tom's journey began in Mona Shores High School, where he graduated in 1975, and later earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Central Michigan University.
Tom's love for snow skiing was evident throughout his life. From his early years, his family's ski trips out west ignited a passion that would define much of his life. After completing his education, Tom made his way to Dillon, Colorado, where he immersed himself in the ski culture, finding not just a pastime but a true zest for life. Over the years, he traversed the slopes of Colorado, California, and Nevada, embracing the exhilaration of the mountains. In 1999, Tom returned to Muskegon to care for his father, cherishing the time spent with family.
Throughout his career in the hospitality industry, Tom forged lasting friendships and connections. He pursued various hobbies with dedication and enthusiasm, enriching his life and those around him.
Tom's kindness knew no bounds, and he held a special place in his heart for his family, particularly his nephews and niece. Known for his selflessness, Tom was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Tom is survived by his sister, Kelly (Daniel) Harris of Norton Shores; three nephews: Ryan Harris, Eric (Laura) Harris and their three children, and Brett (Dannielle) Harris and their three children; niece, Mallory Harris; as well as cousins: Tim Sorensen, Kay (Don) Nelson, John (Sally) Lundstrom, and Jill (Mark) Widing. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, located at 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
