Thomas W. Rahrig "Tom the Barber"'s Obituary
Thomas W. Rahrig, “Tom the Barber”, age 84, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019. He was born May 1, 1934 in Muskegon to Fred and Olive (Edsall) Rahrig and was a life resident. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On February 13, 1954, he married Esther M. Anderson in Muskegon and she survives him. He owned Tom’s Barber Shop for 44 years until his retirement in 2006. Tom was the co-founder (with Vern Dagen) of the Mona Shores Boys Club. He was also active with the Lakeside Football Club and donated golf clubs to raffle for the Mona Shores Golf Outing. Survivors include his wife, Esther Rahrig of Norton Shores; 4 children, Randy Rahrig of Muskegon, Jeffrey (Jamie) Rahrig of Haslett, MI, Barbara Lubke of Jupiter, FL, Kristi (Tom) Jenkins of Ann Arbor; 4 grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashlyn, Jackson, Lindi; 1 brother, Donald (Wilma) Rahrig of Muskegon; 1 sister-in-law, Ione Rahrig of Muskegon; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Ken Rahrig. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100 and one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM at the church.
