Thomas J. "Tom" Rasmussen's Obituary
Thomas J. “Tom” Rasmussen, age 83, met his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born on October 25, 1938 to Clifford “Red” and Jessie (Braamse) Rasmussen in Coopersville, MI. He dedicated 50+ years working for Consumers Energy, where he worked in electrical design for many years before retiring. On March 29, 1957, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Aney in Nunica, MI. Together they cherished 64 years of marriage full of adventures, love and endless laughter. Tom was a faithful servant of Our Lord and a longtime member of Fellowship Reformed Church. He was a man blessed with many talents, one of them being woodworking. Tom could go out back, cut down a tree and turn it into a magnificent masterpiece. Tom enjoyed fishing and was blessed with a green thumb in his garden. Above all things, he adored and loved his family unconditionally. He was a Godly man, family man, well respected man, an all-around great guy. His loving and kind-hearted spirit will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Rasmussen; 2 sons, Gary (Betty) Rasmussen and Todd (Sarah) Rasmussen; 6 grandchildren, Melissa (Josh Watson) Malmgren, Alyssa (Martin) Treu, Amanda Rasmussen, Gabe Rasmussen, Kenny (Marie) McCarty and Jimmy McCarty; 4 great-grandchildren, Haley Rasmussen, Ryden Malmgren, Allie Watson and Emma Watson; sister-in-law, Norma Rasmussen; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Bob Rasmussen. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. A visitation will be held one-hour prior. A visitation with the family will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Friday, January 14, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
