Mr. Thomas Arthur Slate's Obituary
Tom Arthur Slate, age 72 passed away on Monday May 9, 2016. Tom was born on July 12, 1943 to Harold and Verna Slate. In 1965 he married the former Dorene Hendrickson and together they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Tom worked as a laborer and as a welder for the majority of his career until retiring in the late 1990s. One of his biggest passions in life was music. He was a member of the former band Independent Seekers. He enjoyed motorcycles, racing stock cars and his 1931 Ford roadster he built from the ground up. He was a humorous, outgoing prankster who was always the life of the party. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Dorene; children, Susan (Michael) Scraver and Scott (Karen) Marvin; grandchildren, Amber, Joshua, Kyle and Ryan; brother, Robert Slate; sisters, Muriel (Ron) Peterson and Norma Knuppenburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Donna VanderMolen. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE and JAM SESSION will be held later this summer in honor of Tom.
