Thomas L. Smith's Obituary
Thomas Lee Smith, age 80, passed away unexpectedly in Montgomery, AL, on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Tom was born in Monroe, LA, on November 4, 1944, to Willie and Ozzie (Jackson) Smith. On April 1, 1967, he married the former Naomi Allen in Muskegon, MI, and the two of them spent 57 wonderful years building a family together. Tom worked for Eagle Ottawa Leather Company for 38 years before retiring in 2002. Tom was a hard worker, always making sure that his family were provided for. He was quiet and laid back, and he loved riding his Harley Davidson with the Soul Survivors Motorcycle Club in Muskegon.
Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Naomi Smith; four children: Randy (Debra) Smith, Maria Smith, Wesley (Karen) Smith Sr, and Kelcy Smith; four grandchildren: Maurice Smith, Shaun Lee Smith, Wesley Smith Jr, and Jasmyn Smith; and one great-granddaughter: Opal Faye Smith. He was preceded in death by both his parents, as well as his son, Eric Smith.
A FUNERAL will be taking place for Tom at 3:30 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442. VISITATION will be held from 2:00 PM until the service begins at 3:30 PM.
