Mr. Thomas Gus Tomaras' Obituary
Thomas “Tommy T” Gus Tomaras, age 67, passed away on October 27, 2016. Tom was born on October 22, 1949 to Angelo and Matilda (Gee) Tomaras. On June 22, 1968, he married Mary McDowell. Together, they enjoyed 48 years of marriage and had two children. Tom worked in the Produce Department at Meijer Inc. and retired after 42 years. Tom also retired from Brunswick Corporation after 25 years in the Research and Development Department. Tom enjoyed staying busy. He was the President of the Greater Muskegon Bowling Hall of Fame, a former member of the West Michigan Street Rod Association, enjoyed bowling, golfing, working on cars and ‘putzing’ around his house. Tom was a generous, strong-willed man who never shied away from a good debate. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Christopher (Tammi) Tomaras, and Michelle (Christopher) Haan; grandchildren, Krystle Tomaras, and Brittny (Matthew) Cook; brother, Edward (Cindy) Tomaras; sister, Katherine (Kraig) Ivie; and Aunt Virginia (Gee) Bogue. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John and sister Constance. VISITATION will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 from 5:30-8:30 PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI (231-798-1100). A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with a visitation starting at 10:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 E. Summit Avenue, Muskegon, MI (231-733-2440). IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
