Thomas S. Vida's Obituary
Mr. Thomas Steven Vida, age 73, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at his home. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on February 25, 1943 to Stephen and Theresa (Scrivanek) Vida and was a life-long resident of the area. Tom had worked as a machinist, a union steward and in maintenance for Muskegon Piston Ring for 30 years before retiring in 1991. After retiring from Muskegon Piston Ring, Tom worked at Fitzpatrick Electric and Etna Supply Company. He was a life-long communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed reading, gardening, woodworking and vintage cars. Most importantly, family always came first to Tom. On July 10, 1965, Tom married the former Norma Norton in Muskegon and she survives him along with their two children, Michael Vida and Cathy (Chuck) Galarneau; six grandchildren, Jesse Vida, Sam Vida, Sarah Kovalcik, William Galarneau, Rebecca Galarneau and Charles Galarneau, Jr.; three great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie (Joan) Vida; mother-in-law, Helen Norton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Mason. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be CELEBRATED at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Norman P. Droski presiding. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with the ROSARY prayed at 7:30 PM. VISITATION will also be from 10-11AM Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIALS may be made to Harbor Hospice Foundation or Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
