Tom was an awesome neighbor! We would see who could get to the sidewalks first after a snowfall! More times than not he won and sometimes did our driveway as well. Great guy, he will be missed.

Growing up in Muskegon, I feel like my family has known Tom forever...from Michigan Dunes Montessori, to the YMCA swim team, to all the good times with the West Michigan Speedskating Club. I have especially fond memories of the Michigan speed skating camps in Midland in 1998-99, where Tom was so encouraging at a time when I needed it most. Many years later, I came to visit Tom and Kasey when Tom was in the UM hospital and I was working in a lab down the hall; despite his many health struggles he always had a smile on his face and was happy to visit with a friend. In later years, Tom's way of staying in touch was to send a funny meme on social media, since we shared the same political humor. I'll miss Tom, as will so many in Michigan speed skating and cycling. My deepest condolences to Willie, Kasey, Corey, and your whole family.
Very sad to hear this Tom was my teacher at southshores years ago! He taught me how to play ping pong and I continued with it and won several tournaments because of him I have prayer of healing to his family and may he rest in God's mighty hands. Cliff Rundle. Thank you Tom!
As passionate as Tom was about teaching and biking, he also loved ice speedskating. He was an accomplished skater himself but was most proud of supporting his children and grandchild in their skating careers. To the very end when he could no longer compete, he provided valuable and much appreciated technical support to the other club members.
He was a great friend to me for many decades and will always hold a place in my heart. Keep smiling down on us, dear friend.
