Thomas H. Hansen's Obituary
Mr. Thomas H. Hansen, age 87, passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at VNS Hospice House. He was born on October 14, 1921 to Emanuel and Edna (Nielsen) Hansen in Muskegon. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway. Mr. Hansen worked as a project engineer for Browne-Morse for 30 years. Tom was a licensed funeral director and worked at several area funeral homes during his retirement. Tom was a veteran of the US Army and served during the WWII. On November 29, 1947 he married the former Norah Bowron at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include: his wife Norah, one son, John (Kay) Hansen of Muskegon and three daughters, Ann (Clifton Jr.) Martin of Muskegon, Joyce (David) Vitek of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Janet (Scott) Buzzell of Romeo, Michigan; 11 grandchildren, Brad, Dan, Steven, Kenneth currently serving in Iraq, Travis, Stephanie, Ashley, Thomas, Michael, Mark, and Courtney; 6 great-grandchildren Julia, Tommie and Tyler, Payden, Amya and MaKenna; 1 sister-in-law, Carolyn Hansen; 2 nephews, James and Robert Hansen, and his faithful companion Brownie. He was preceded in death by his son David, his parents and his brother James. FUNERAL SERVICE will be 1PM Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at
The Lee Chapel Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Lewis Glick officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, please consider VNS Hospice for memorials. Burial will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
