Mrs. Tia Marie Peterson's Obituary
Mrs. Tia Marie Peterson, age 47, passed away at her home on Monday, October 15, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Muskegon on July 27, 1965 to Lawrence and VeeAnn (Harman) Dyga and was a life resident of the area. Tia graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She spent 21 years teaching at Oakridge Lower Elementary where she was dedicated to her kids, her school, and the community. Tia volunteered with numerous Muskegon area charitable groups. She was a member of Forest Park Covenant Church. On August 3, 1991, Tia married Stuart Peterson in Muskegon and he survives her along with her brothers, Scott (Marybeth) Dyga and Robert L. (Kay) Dyga; and her father, Lawrence Dyga. She was the loving aunt of 21 nieces and nephews. Tia was preceded in death by her mother, VeeAnn Dyga. SERVICES will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Forest Park Covenant Church (3815 Henry Street) with Rev. Shelley Kurth and Rev. Wally Coots officiating. VISITATION will be from 4-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. In lieu of flowers, please consider your local Relay for Life or Harbor Hospice.
