Timothy J. Freye's Obituary
Mr. Timothy J. Freye, 66, passed away August 10, 2020, at his home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. Tim was born July 17, 1954 to Robert and Walthea (Boven) Freye in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. He had a gift and passion for medicine and had been a practicing Physician Assistant for nearly 40 years, after pioneering as one of the first graduating classes of Physician Assistants from Western Michigan University. He worked for Mercy Health for much of his career. His knowledge and experience was vast and far reaching and those that knew him were in awe of his abilities. His touch and words were always gentle and encouraging. His patience, compassion, commitment and expertise were inspiring. He was one many say they would try to aspire to be like, both in medicine and as a person. Tim had a love and fascination of aviation and liked to fly often. He had always appreciated the waters and enjoyed the thrill of ice boating, wind surfing and sailing. Tim has been called a gentle, caring and amazing man, friend and P.A., yet he remained very humble and grounded with much love for his family, friends, medicine and the Lord. On June 30, 1979 Tim married Wanda J. Juusola, and she survives him along with four children, Michael (Kristie) Osborn, Robert (Colleen) Freye, Timothy (Lisa) Freye, Michelle (Jamy) Gillan; 5 grandchildren: Hobson, Abram, Ava, Samuel and Benjamin; siblings: Dan (Mary) Freye, Beth Freye, Mark (Maureen Leonard) Freye, Bruce (Brenda) Freye; brother-in-law, Bob Whitlock. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, son Chad Osborn, and sister Nancy Whitlock. Visitation at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, 49444, will be from 3-5 PM Saturday, August 15, followed by the funeral under the S. Portico at 5:00 PM. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery. Contributions in Tim’s memory may be made to the Muskegon Rescue Mission, the NOAH Project, or the Kids Food Basket.
