Timothy "Tim" Allen Mathews' Obituary
Timothy “Tim” Allen Mathews, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, August 5, 2024. He was born November 18, 1946, to Irwin and Hazel (Mosher) Mathews in Fremont, MI. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1965 and then went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. Tim met his future wife in high school and on September 10, 1966, he married Mary Magner. In the early 1990’s, Tim took ownership of Andy’s Septic Tank Service, a company started by his father-in-law, Andy Magner. Tim proudly served in this role for over 50 years before passing the business to his grandson.
Tim enjoyed bowling alongside his family in various bowling leagues. He liked camping, fishing, and spending time in his garden. Holidays were a favorite as Tim would decorate the farm for Halloween and Christmas. After retirement, he surprised everyone when he took on golfing, a sport he refused to play until then. He also liked to make walking sticks for his family and building homemade utility trailers. Tim loved to host family and friends at the farm and dearly loved his family and grandchildren.
Tim will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary; children, Tim Mathews, Tammy (Rocky) Shavalier, Terry Mathews and Trina (Matt) Wildfong; grandchildren, John (Amanda) Shavalier, Rocky (Crystal) Shavalier, TJ (Chelsea) Mathews, Haley (Roy) Holsworth, Riley (Aiden) Mathews and Matthew Wildfong Jr.; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Max Mathews, Dave (Marlene) Mathews and Basil Mathews; sisters, Marilyn (Randy) Tenhagen, Sue (Bob) Gilbert and Vicki (Shay Jones) Mathews; and loved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will have a Celebration of Life from 2-5 PM on Saturday, August 17, 2024, on their farm (9671 Farr Rd., Ravenna, MI 49451).
