Mr. Todd J. “T.J.” Mitchell II, age 28, departed this life unexpectedly on Sunday, May 23, 2021. T.J. was born on February 13, 1993 to Cynthia Phillips and Todd J. Mitchell I in Muskegon, MI. He accepted Christ at an early age. He enjoyed making jokes, playing basketball, producing music, spending time with his daughter and being the best uncle to his nieces and nephews whom they acknowledged him as “Uncle Mulley”. T.J. always told you the truth even if it was not what you wanted to hear. He graduated in 2011 from Muskegon High School and was a huge fan of the Big Reds. T.J. later joined the Red Fraternity to pave the way for the youth. His passion for music started his career at an early age in the music industry. He later became the CEO of RReal RRight Records and was producing his own music nationwide. All loved him dearly, and will never forget his tenacity, wit, charm, grace (when pertinent) and undying love and caring for them. T.J. leaves to cherish in memories his parents; Cynthia (David) Phillips of Chicago, Ill and Todd (Gabrielle) Mitchell I of Muskegon, MI; his one and only daughter, Kenzie Jai Mitchell of Muskegon, MI; three sisters, Ashley Bailey of Atlanta, GA, Kaitlyn Phillips of Chicago, Ill and Tonnie Phillips of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Jordan Mitchell and Ta’Juan Mitchell of Muskegon, MI; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Patterson from Muskegon, MI, paternal grandmother, Frances Wilson of Muskegon, MI; special cousin, Anetria Conyers of Muskegon, MI; special aunts, Tamiko Conyers, Andrea Heath and Carla Smith all of Muskegon, MI; special uncles, Michael Keyes of Muskegon and Curtis Conyers of Killeen TX; his business manager, Matthew Allen of Atlanta, GA; and his partner Ja’Niyah Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. T.J. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ray Mitchell and James Keyes; uncle, Michael Conyers; cousin, Jaquan Norris and his best friend, Dupree Barnes. A VISITATION for T.J. will be held from 4PM-7PM Thursday, May 27, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Muskegon, Michigan 49444. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral home is allowed 25 guests in the building at a time. As people pay their respects to the family and exit the building, more guests will be allowed in. Masks will be required. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday May 28, 2021 at Fresh Anointing COGIC,1121 Jefferson St, Muskegon, MI 49440 with Pastor Andre McClanahan., officiating.
