Tom L. Johnson's Obituary
Tom L. Johnson, age 73, met his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2020. He was born on October 25, 1946 to James and Catherine (Brow) Johnson in Muskegon, MI and has lived here his whole life. Tom was a servant to the Lord and was a faithful member of the New Life Community Church. He graduated from Western Michigan University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in teaching. Teaching was his passion, and he dedicated 35 years to enlightening the youth at both Orchard View School and St. Michaels. On May 25, 1968 he married the love of his life, the former Cynthia “Cyndy” Radel in Muskegon, MI at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together they cherished 51 years of marriage full of love and laughter. He was known to be a funny and kind man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of a crossword puzzle. Tom enjoyed working with computers or taking a ride on his motorcycle. At 73, you could still find him playing guitar with the worship team at church. Above all things, he loved his family and friends. He will always be remembered for being “Grandpa Johnson” and all his attempts at dad jokes. He will be remembered for being the most wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was a caring and tender-loving soul who will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia “Cyndy” Johnson; 3 children, Larissa (Bob) Swanson, Meggan (Jon) Muchna, and Matthew Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Jocelyn Muchna and Natalie Muchna; and sister, Sandra “Sandy” Wagner. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the New Life Community Church, 4095 Grand Haven Rd, Norton Shores, MI 49441. Visitation with the family will be held from 6-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
